Chocolate & Cheese Pinwheels


2 puff pastry sheets, I prefer Dufour

1 cup chocolate hazelnut spread

½ cup mascarpone cheese

1 cup hazelnuts, chopped

Confectioners sugar

1 egg + 1 tablespoon water, beaten


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 


Line a 9 x 13 baking sheet with parchment. Lay one piece of puff pastry down and spread the chocolate hazelnut spread all over it. Layer the cheese on top.


Place the other piece of puff pastry on top. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the puff pastry into long strips, about ¾ inch thick.


Starting at one end, twist the strips in then turn them into a coil on the sheet. Brush egg wash all over. Sprinkle hazelnuts on top.


Bake for 15 minutes.


Allow to cool and then dust with confectioners sugar.
