apple dumplings

6 medium apples, peeled and cored

1/2 cup dark brown sugar

3 tablespoons ground cinnamon

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into 6 pieces

1 sheet of puff pastry, defrosted

1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon of water

1 pint of vanilla gelato

preheat oven to 350 degrees

mix the brown sugar with the cinnamon and rub the mixture all over the apples.

roll out the puff pastry and cut it into 6 squares.

place the apples on the squares, divide the rest of cinnamon sugar in the core of each apple and then place of piece of butter on top.

fold the puff pastry on top of each apple, covering it completely.

place the apples in 8x8 pan and brush the egg wash on top.

bake for 40 minutes until the puff pastry is golden brown.

cut open and serve with a scoop of gelato on top.
